Choosing Your Size

Size by your dog's weight, not by breed name:

• XS - 9 to 17 lb. Small terriers, dachshunds, most cats.
• S - 17 to 28 lb. Cockers, beagles, French bulldogs.
• M - 28 to 55 lb. Border collies, springers, medium mixes.

Between two sizes, take the larger one. A robe that is slightly long still works; one that will not close does not.

Common Mistakes

• Putting it on a soaking dog straight out of the tub - squeeze the worst of the water out of the coat by hand first. The robe finishes the job; it is not a sponge.
• Leaving it on for hours - twenty to thirty minutes does the work. Left on a damp dog all evening, it keeps the coat humid instead of drying it.
• Sizing by breed instead of weight - two dogs of the same breed can be a size apart. Weigh yours.
• Washing it with fabric softener - softener coats the fibres and kills absorbency. That is what makes a towel stop working.
